Hedge Planting Weekend

Over the weekend a group of incredibly hard working volunteers joined us to plant hedges and trees on our new camping field, Parsons Bush.

We managed to plant everything we had hoped to, 650m of hedges, 2,500 hedge plants & trees. A brilliant way to celebrate World Wildlife Day!

The aim of the planting is to create wildlife habitats around what is essentially an empty grass field. The hedges planted are a mix of Hawthorn, Dog Rose, Hazel, Field Maple and Mountain Ash, following Norfolk biodiversity recommendations. And the trees we planted are Wild Cherry, Field Maple, Green Beach and Common Alder.

The new planting will provide protection, roosting, nesting and food for a whole range of wildlife. It was glorious seeing the wagtails exploring the new planting, within a few hours of them going in, and we know from the planting around our other campsite fields that other wildlife will quickly move in and enjoy the new additions.

Huge thanks to all the wonderful volunteers, and big thanks to the weather that provided sunshine and perfect planting conditions.
