During this year’s Deepdale Festival, we have organised two very special concerts in St Mary’s Church, Burnham Deepdale, the lovely round towered church just across the road from Deepdale Backpackers & Camping.
On Saturday the Marham Bluebirds, officially the Marham Military Wives Choir, will be performing at 4pm. This large choir will fill the church with the most beautiful singing, a perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of everyday life.
And on Sunday The Tin Heart Troubadours with The Heart Strings, will be performing at 2pm. Their mix of American parlour folk music and classical strings will fill the church beautifully.
“We hope that long term St Mary’s Church will be become a major part of Deepdale Festival, as the event grows. But to test the venue and see what music listeners think, we wanted to find really special concerts to draw in visitors. With both the Marham Military Wives Choir, and The Tin Heart Troubadours with The Heart Strings, we feel we have found two very special one off events. A huge thank you to the church for allowing us the opportunity to host these two special events in this beautiful building.” – Chris Haycock, Festival Director
We have real pleasure in supporting the fundraising efforts of St Mary’s Church with both these events. All proceeds of ticket sales on the door, and any donations music fans are happy to leave when they visit, will go towards the Church Roof Repairs Fund. The church needs to raise £60,000 to carry out urgent repairs to the South Nave Roof, which has been diagnosed as ‘sick’. Hopefully these two concerts, general visitors and events like Deepdale Christmas Market will help them reach this total as soon as possible. You can find more details of the appeal can be found on their website: www.burnhamdeepdale.co.uk/stmarys/
Those who have Deepdale Festival tickets can attend both these special concerts for free as part of their festival entry, they just need to show their wristbands at the door of the church.
