Deepdale Festival – This Weekend

This coming weekend, Deepdale Backpackers & Camping welcomes live music fans for the first Deepdale Festival.  The Tildens, Clark & Zuppardi, and the Georgia Shackleton Trio will open the Festival on Friday evening, beginning a weekend of great music and spoken word.

Chris Haycock, the Operations Director of Deepdale Backpackers & Camping, has drawn together the music programme for the weekend.  His passion is the promotion of local original music, so the majority of the performers are Norfolk based.  “I’m building on the festivals I’ve organised in the past and Deepdale’s fondly remembered jazz festivals.  There will be over 20 acts, including bands, solo artists, duos and more.  Folk, rock, spoken word, blues, country … There’s something for anyone that loves music.” Said Chris.

There are three stages and a secret venue – Brick Barn Stage and Backpackers Stage are based in the courtyard by the Backpackers Hostel.  The Orchard Stage is by the Pop Up Shops at Dalegate Market.  The Secret Venue is an enjoyable walk into the heart of Deepdale Farm.  The Brick Barn Stage plays host to the larger bands, and the Backpackers Stage entertains while those bands set up.  The Orchard Stage is more acoustic, with soloists and duos.  Both the main stages are weather proofed for bands and festival goers, with large areas under cover.  Naturally with good weather forecast that proofing is just for peace of mind (fingers firmly crossed).

Festival goers will be able to enjoy music from Jess Morgan, Little Red Kings, Georgia Shackleton Trio, Crumbs for Comfort, The Mojo Preachers, East Angles Jazz Band, Marina Florence, Lisa Redford, Pepper & Shepherd, The Tildens, Falling From Trees, Matt Watson, Kolin Durier, Clark & Zuppardi, Tin Heart Troubadours, Homefires, The Gillies, Ardeth Bey, Christian Smith, Megan Parry, Miracle Cure, Kayleigh Watson and Billy Pilgrim with the Heartsease Kid.

In amongst the live music, there will be Drum Jams with Drum Norwich, street entertainers, festival stalls, and great food and drink.  Norfolk Brewhouse and Norfolk Sloe Co will be watering visitors and band members.  Pizzas, burgers, hog roast, crepes, café food and more will sustain the live music enjoyment.

We are really pleased to be welcoming our friends from the King’s Lynn and District Astronomy Society, who will be offering star gazing throughout the weekend.

It’s going to be a great weekend.  There’s no more accommodation left at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping, but there are Weekend Day Tickets.  Festival goers can enjoy live music on Friday evening, Saturday all day, and Sunday afternoon for just £15 per adult and £7.50 per child.  That is incredible value for all this great live music.  Whether you’ve heard of every band or not, it’s well worth discovering your new favourites while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of Deepdale.

Tickets are available online at www.deepdalefestival.co.uk or from Deepdale Visitor Information Centre in Burnham Deepdale, Tel: 01485 210256

“One of the most important goals for us, when we took back the running of Deepdale Backpackers & Camping in October 2016, was to return the accommodation to its best and rebuild the annual programme of events.  Its great working with Chris, both of us are excited about the music programme we are developing, and Deepdale Festival is the pinnacle of that music programme.  Seeing the place buzzing and full of great music this weekend will be wonderful.” Said Jason Borthwick, Managing Director of Deepdale.

Deepdale Festival takes place on Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th September at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping in Burnham Deepdale on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast.
