Happy New Year from the Deepdale Crew! Hope you had a fantastic festive season however busy or quiet it was, and are enjoying the start of 2024. For this month’s Deepdale Podcast, we are concentrating on the wildlife & environment of the beautiful North Norfolk Coast. Huge thanks to Richard Powell OBE (Wildlife Advisor), Steve Rowland (RSPB) and Oliver Reville (One Stop Nature Shop) for their contributions.
Thanks for listening to the Deepdale Podcast, produced by the team at Deepdale Camping & Rooms, Deepdale Farm and Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast.
Richard Powell OBE
Jason chats with Richard about wildlife on the North Norfolk Coast. Richard has an incredible pedigree, having been involved with a huge range of wildlife project around Norfolk, the East of England, the UK and overseas. Talking to Richard about wildlife and the environment, is like talking to our Chris about music, the passion is infectious.
Steve Rowland
Jason chats with Steve, the manager for the RSPB in Norfolk & Lincolnshire. They chat about interconnected landscapes, reserves in the local area, and the Big Garden Birdwatch. He explains the joint submission for the East Coast to be recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO for its wildlife diversity. He refused to be drawn on which is his favourite reserve!
One Stop Nature Shop Wildlife Update
Oli from One Stop Nature Shop at Dalegate Market (next door to Deepdale Camping & Rooms) brings us his usual update on local wildlife. If you want to know what’s going on locally, any special sightings or other special visitors, then the One Stop team are a font of knowledge. They have an amazing array of wildlife watching equipment for sale, and some items for hire too.
North Norfolk Wildlife Watching Guide
We’ve put together a guide to wildlife watching in North Norfolk on our website. There is more information about reserves, top tips, maps, guides, and related event listings. When creating the page, we discovered reserves that we weren’t aware of, and reminded ourselves of some very beautiful parts of North Norfolk.

But in the meantime if you’d like to listen to previous episodes you can find them on your podcast provider or head to our websites deepdalecamping.co.uk or deepdalefarm.co.uk to see the whole back catalogue. We particularly recommend the December episodes, where Chris gives us his Top Albums of the Year recommendations.
