For two weeks in May/June each year Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios celebrates the county's artists and their achievements, when they open their doors to the public to exhibit, sell and talk about their work.
For 16 days each year, Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios celebrates the county's artists and their achievements by offering them the opportunity to open their doors to the public to exhibit, sell and talk about their work. 2015 saw over 450 artists taking part in 248 venues across Norfolk. 10 Norfolk Schools were also involved, showing the exceptional artistic talent of young people in the county.
Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios has established itself as one of the largest and most successful open studios schemes in the country. It gives visitors the opportunity to see new art, meet artists, and - with many of the works on display being for sale - to buy original artworks directly from their creators.
Studios are FREE to visit and visitors don't need to book in advance, unless they are a large group.
The Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios website and brochure publishes details of all artists taking part in the scheme each year. The brochure is made available in many venues across Norfolk from early/mid April, or you can download a version from this website. Each artist is listed within a geographical district of the county.
Many artists organise additional events and are often happy to accept commissions and/or welcome visitors throughout the year.
Art Trails
Now an integral part of Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios, Art Trails allow visitors to make a memorable day out of their Open Studios visit.
Events & Demonstrations
Many artists run special events and activities during the scheme, offering visitors the chance to get creative and have a go themselves!
Taster Exhibitions
Regional taster exhibitions are held throughout the county, to give people a chance to see the variety of art work and working methods that can be seen during the run of the scheme. A Central Taster exhibition is also held at the Forum in Norwich ahead of the opening of the scheme in May. This brings together works from participating artists and gives visitors a flavour of what's to come, giving them time to plan their open studio visits.
Price: FREE Entry, but hopefully you'll be tempted to buy some of the art you see
Location: Artists studios throughout Norfolk, with many along the North Norfolk Coast
