This exhibition at Gallery Plus in Wells-next-the-Sea, will feature over 50 brand new paintings, has been inspired by the shapes and colours of London architecture and surroundings.

Trevor's “Colours of Venice” exhibition at the gallery earlier this year was a real eye-opener and full of colour. It was extremely well received and so Trevor wanted to incorporate that feeling, the colours, and the shapes into his new London paintings. This has made him look closer at the usual London scenes, as well as taking him outside those settings.

Previously his London paintings were all about buildings, skylines, and reflections, and that still remains to some degree, but he feels that his eyes have been opened wider to the possibilities of new paintings, new angles, new colours, and a completely refreshed look at the city.

Some of his paintings have become quite abstract over the recent months with bold use of colour and composition, but, importantly, they are still very much ‘his' paintings, with his instantly-recognisable style and unique use of colour.

One of the many highlights of this exhibition will be a series of botanical paintings, featuring Kew Gardens. These paintings have come as a real surprise to Trevor, but a visit to Kew earlier in the year proved to be a rather unexpected source of inspiration!

There will, of course, be some of his more recognisable London paintings included, but expect a mix of those, along with plenty of abstract pieces and… lots and lots of colour!

Trevor Woods is a popular artist based in Wells-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk. He has been painting professionally for over 12 years and, with his wife Jo, owns Gallery Plus where his working studio is always open to visitors. His distinctive, graphic style has allowed him to develop the skill of breaking down views into their raw elements: clean lines, flat colours, and dark shadows. Each painting is just as much about what he leaves out as what he includes.

ABSTRACT LONGON opens with an all-day preview on Saturday 20th August from 10am – 5pm, when Trevor will be present to welcome you with a glass of Prosecco, and continues until Sunday 4th September. Open Monday - Saturday, 10am-5pm, plus Sundays 27th March and 3rd April 11am-4pm.
