The community of Coltishall have come together to celebrate and share all the wonderful things about their village in style, with a mini festival like no other. A small, voluntary committee of local residents and businesses came up with this big idea in 2018, and this year it has got even bigger. Roping in members of the local community in roles as vast the Tin Man to head of bucket collections, it's set to be an amazing demonstration of community together-ness and family fun, raising money for the local primary school and Livlife, a community education centre in Tanzania, East Africa.
With a music stage at the Red Lion Pub packed with bands, featuring the local Primary school, Evening with Bob, Sefo Kanuteh, Norwich Rock Choir and local rock star and ex-Mungo Jerry member James Matthews with the Johnny Jump Band. James is also behind the surreal and fabulous creations popping up in the village to guide visitors around a Wizard of Oz adventure, featuring the locals cast as main characters, and the Rev as the Wizard of Oz in his Emerald City church. Local gallery Capital Culture will have children's activities galore, why not make a munchkin hat and take it over to the Red Lion's playground, recreated as the munchkin village, you might just bump into Dorothy herself playing there.
Top on the list of things to do are also a playful tour of local heritage in the church at 10am, nature walks, yoga classes, paddle boarding and pond dipping as well as a summer fete with traditional games, as if there wasn't enough else to do. Get there early to soak it all up!
