We begin our 2019-20 season with this spellbinding selection of music for the whole family to enjoy. Hop aboard the broomstick as we take a dive into Mussorgsky's eerie tone poem Night on a Bare Mountain. a piece inspired by the composer's interest in witches. Come delve into Shakespeare's world of fairies, elves and magic spells via the romantic imagination of Felix Mendelssohn. Marvel at the thought of a certain Disney mouse getting up to his tricks as The Sorcerer's Apprentice creates trouble whilst his boss is away. The witching hour is announced in Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre, and as the violins are tuned, the skeletons are summoned from their graces. All beautifully finished with the utterly compelling and evocative score to the nation's favourite wizard by John Williams.
