A talk by Curator Francesca Vanke about the artist JMW Turner and his painting 'Walton Bridges' at Lynn Museum and online.
Artist JMW Turner was an expert at expressing emotions through his paintings of water. Join Curator Francesca Vanke as she looks at how water can be represented in art in many different ways: wild and exciting, calm and peaceful, or even frightening, in Turner's paintings and in the work of other artists who were inspired by him.
This talk is available to view in person, or online. Booking is required via Art Tickets or at Lynn Museum for both methods. For more information, please call 01553 775001 or email lynn.museum@norfolk.gov.uk
About Turner 2022
The exhibition which inspired this talk is based around Turner's painting Walton Bridges of 1806, which was purchased by Norfolk Museums Service in 2019 and is the first oil painting by Turner to enter any public collection in Norfolk, Suffolk or Essex. To celebrate its arrival, the painting is currently touring around East Anglia. Walton Bridges is on display at Lynn Museum until 15th October 2022.
The painting was acquired due to the generous support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, also the Art Fund and a private donor.
