Nielsen introduces us to the culture and vibrancy of the Faroe Islands, Johannsson taking over with an air of peace and contemplation, effortlessly depicting the eerie beauty of this inspiring place. Grieg follows, bringing us out of our reverie with his vivacious and hugely popular dances based on Norwegian folk tunes. We complete our tour of the region with Sibelius, his Symphony no.5 providing a most fitting finale.
