Grooves, twangs and good times ahead in Holt
FROM modern country and Americana to groove laden folk and acoustic anthems, twangs, tunes and good times are all on the menu of a sumptuous triple bill of live music at The Venue @ Holt Community Centre on Saturday, December 7.
Topping the bill in the latest impressive offering at the resurgent Venue are all singing, all dancing, all female Americana outfit Savannah Gardner & The Recovering Good Girls.
Proving that girl power doesn't have to be naff or manufactured, Savannah and her all-female quartet offer a unique brand of California country soul that manages to be both warm and badass in the same shot glass.
Born and bred in the States but now based in London, Savanah and the Good Girls have been selling out venues in the capital in recent months following the release of their debut album Recovering Good Girl in September.
The Venue gig will be their first outing in Norfolk and promises to be an “I was there” moment for fans of the burgeoning Americana scene in the county.
Savannah said - “I know it's going to be a fantastic evening and we will make it special. I can't wait to bring all the love and badassery to Holt.”
The attraction doesn't stop there as Savannah will be supported on the night by fellow rising Americana star Lucy Grubb and her all Norfolk band. With three acclaimed EPs behind them, including 2021's Waste My Time, Lucy and her band are currently writing and perfecting material for her own debut album slated for release next year.
The band recently played a stunning funk fuelled folk set at North Norfolk's Deepdale Festival, having previously performed at prestigious folk and Americana festivals like Black Deer, Moseley Folk Festival, Latitude and Harlequin. Lucy herself graced the Holt Festival just this summer as one of the street performers who played a series of sets around the town.
Lucy said - “I'm looking forward to bringing my band to Holt after enjoying my stint as a street performer at Holt Festival in the summer”.
Opening proceedings on the night at The Venue, Kerridge Way, Holt, NR25 6DN will be Holt's own singer/guitarist Lewis Gibbs with music in between sets from DJ Postmaster Flash, of the much-loved Holt Vinyl Vault record shop, the promoter for the gig.
