Friday - Brick Barn Stage

The opening band on our main Brick Barn Stage is The John Ward Band, stalwarts of the English folk scene. Based in East Anglia, singer, musician and writer, John Ward, has established himself as a prolific and formidable songwriter on the folk, roots and acoustic music scene and has 8 critically-acclaimed CDs and a published book to his credit. John writes in a variety of styles, and has been commissioned to write songs and music for various projects, but his heart is in folk and roots music. John's songs have been crafted from his life in a port town that has seen more than its fair share of change. After a life travelling and making music, Les Woodley (double bass and mandolin) joined John and renowned guitarist, Stephen Mynott. With Lynne’s accordian and whistles and their powerful harmonies, the band’s performances are authentic, entertaining and from the heart. John’s unique style of bodhran playing and show-stopping solos are a live favourite and together they delight audiences across the UK.
