Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th September 2023
Saturday - Brick Barn
The Feathered Thorns are Polly Wright and Jason Wick who are long term collaborators on a wide range of commissioned work for Theatre, Poetry, Film and i Installation. Lyrical spoken word and vulnerable melodic vocals duet over broken chord parlour piano, valve driven guitar amplifiers on the verge of break up and the use of spring reverbs and analogue effects produce an authentic raw tonal palette over a haunting collage of lo- fi soundscapes conjuring lonely houses, folkloric figures, coastal towns in the grip of winter and dark country lanes. Melancholy, tenderness and menace meet the real or imagined, the heartache of the familiar and the brooding thrill of the unknown. These are songs deeply rooted in the belly of the Waveney Valley, the area which John Peel famously described as the ‘Badlands of the Norfolk-Suffolk border.’
This was the programme for Deepdale Festival 2023, our 6th annual festival. We had a fabulous weekend, with an amazing range of musical talent including national and local bands.
