North Norfolk Walking, Rambling & Hiking Routes

Brancaster Staithe Circular Walk

3.8 miles (6 km) This is a lovely walk, that takes you up to Barrow Common, back down to Branodunum with amazing views of Brancaster Staithe Harbour, then back along the Norfolk Coast Path.

Maps show the starting point at The Jolly Sailors, but most of our customers start with us at Deepdale Camping & Rooms in Burnham Deepdale, and then just happen to stop at The Jolly Sailors or The White Horse on the way back.

Norfolk Coast Path (inc England Coast Path)

The Norfolk Coast Path is just across the road from Deepdale, and heads both East and West along the beautiful North Norfolk Coast. 84 miles (135 km) from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea, with beaches, cliff tops, path ways & board walks.

Many visitors to Deepdale are walking the entire distance of the path, and others dip in and walk parts of it. You can walk a section and then catch the Coastliner Bus back to Deepdale.

Brancaster Circular Walk

4.5 miles (7.3 km) The walk passes the Ship Hotel and St. Mary's Church. It continues toward the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, built near the site of the old lifeboat house. Returning inland, it passes the round-towered church of St. Mary's at Titchwell, and the medieval village cross.

Titchwell chalk pit is also accessible from this trail. Once used as a dump, it has now been transformed into a mini nature reserve.

The Burnhams Circular Walk

Following in the footsteps of two of Norfolk's maritime heroes, this stunning route visits three of the historic 'Seven Burnhams by the sea'.

On this walk you'll visit Burnham Overy Saithe, Burnham Overy Town, Burnham Market (not one of the 7 Burnhams) and Burnham Norton. You'll pass St Clement's Church, St Mary's Friary (ruins) and St Margaret's Church.

Peddars Way

Peddars Way starts in Suffolk at Knettishall Heath Country Park (or Thetford Station for cyclists) and follows the route of a Roman road for 49 miles (79 km) to Holme-next-the-Sea on the north Norfolk coast meeting the Norfolk Coast Path at Holme-next-the-Sea.

The path meets the Norfolk Coast Path at Holme-next-the-Sea and many long distance walkers like to combine the two paths.

National Trust Walks

The National Trust has a lot of properties and land in Norfolk, and on those estates there are a lot walks. You can enjoy ancient woodlands, wide open skies, fresh air, blue bell trails, stately homes, fascinating follies and ancient buildings.

You can enjoy coastal walk in places like Brancaster Staithe, Blakeney and West Runton. And countryside walks in places like Blickling, Felbrigg and Sheringham.

Deep History Coast Discovery Trail

The Deep History Coast Trail covers 22 miles (36 km) of coastline from Weybourne to Cart Gap along the clifftops of the north Norfolk coast. With eleven discovery points along the way, you can find out what the landscape looked like hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Marriott's Way

26 miles (41 km) - The whole off-road trail can be used by walkers. Marriott's Way follows the route of two disused railway lines, running between the medieval city of Norwich and the historic market town of Aylsham, via Drayton, Lenwade, Cawston and Reepham. This route is suitable for a very accessible route, easy to walk with buggies and wheelchairs, although pneumatic tyres will make the going easier.

The Walsingham Way

37 miles (59.5 km) - The Walsingham Way is a community and ecumenical partnership enabled by Norwich Cathedral, part of their contribution to the European Green Pilgrimage Network. The heart of the project is a safe to walk pilgrim path - on green lanes and footpaths - from Norwich to Walsingham. The route was waymarked in the Spring 2021.

Starting at Norwich Cathedral and taking you through the Norfolk countryside to Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.
