Green Tourism Policy | Deepdale Camping & Rooms

Green Tourism Policy

Our product is the environment - beautiful countryside, fresh sea air, big blue skies, salt marshes, woods and fields - nature at her best ... Let's keep it that way

We aim to operate as an environmentally aware tourism business, providing camping and hostel accommodation on a year round basis.

This involves minimising the adverse impact on the environment caused by our business activities and the tourism activities of our visitors, while supporting and encouraging other local, sustainable businesses.

We actively encourage and reward non-car journeys to us, promoting the Coasthopper bus service, the Norfolk Coastal Footpath, and have re-invigorated the cycle hire business.

Recycling is encouraged and facilitated by the provision of separate, labelled bins in an attempt to recycle as much waste as possible.

Environmentally friendly cleaning and washing products are provided for guests, free of charge, together with fairly traded tea, coffee and hot chocolate for our hostel guests, and we use recycled paper products in our office and washrooms.

Our electricity is sourced from a 100% renewable provider, and we have an ongoing commitment to generate as much electricity as possible from solar as we continue to develop the site.

Having ceased the previous tenants' practices of the sale of non-renewable fossil fuels and disposable barbecues, we now provide BBQs for hire and sell FSC certified charcoal.

We have an ongoing commitment to an energy efficient and environmentally aware future for every development undertaken on the site.

Deepdale Farm Terrestrial Invertebrate Survey 2022

Most of the hedges and trees on the campsite were planted during conservation weekends, that we ran in conjunction with Deepdale Farm. Since the planting, and the conversion of Deepdale Farm to organic and regenerative agriculture, there has been a huge improvement in the levels of wildlife at Deepdale.

In 2022 Deepdale Farm undertook an invertebrate survey to see how things were going, and it makes interesting reading.

You can find out more on the Deepdale Farm website - deepdalefarm.co.uk/invertebrate-survey-2022/
