This exhibition, featuring the latest series of paintings, sees North Norfolk artist Trevor Woods take a fresh look at street scenes.
Whilst on his travels, Trevor has always recorded the places that inspire him to interpret them in a unique way, from colourful hillside towns in the South of France, to the wonders of the Venetian waterways.
This latest series of paintings has gone beyond breaking down these scenes from what is familiar, to abstracting elements of what you see, resulting in fantasy alleyways, avenues, and buildings all expressed in myriad colours.
Trevor says: “I have been looking at street scenes and the tight canals in particular and concentrating on the angles and lines, but more importantly the colours that make up a view. I will be also showing paintings of some of the other amazing places I have visited over the years, such as colourful Collioure in the South of France. Having looked back at reference photos taken then and now, I'm interpreting them in the way I paint today. So expect lots of crisp, clean lines and plenty of vibrant colours.”
Trevor's work has always had an impact when it comes to his use of colour and this exhibition shows that he is prepared to take it even further. Not to be missed!
Trevor Woods is a popular artist based in Wells-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk. He has been painting professionally for over 12 years and, with his wife Jo, owns Gallery Plus where his studio is always open to visitors. His distinctive, graphic style has allowed him to develop the skill of breaking down views into their raw elements: clean lines, flat colours, and dark shadows. Each painting is just as much about what he leaves out as what he includes.
STREET SCENES opens with an all-day preview on Saturday 19th August from 10am – 5pm, when Trevor will be present to welcome you with a glass of Prosecco, and continues until Saturday 2nd September. Open Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, plus Sundays 11am-4pm.
