Sacconi Quartet, well known to North Norfolk festival audiences

Chamber Music, Holkham Hall, Wells next the Sea, Norfolk, North Norfolk | Sacconi Quartet, well known to North Norfolk festival audiences | classica music, concert

Programme:
Haydn: String Quartet in C Op.76 No.3 ‘Emperor' Debussy: String Quartet
Schubert: String Quartet in D minor D.810 ‘Death and the Maiden'

The Sacconi Quartet features Ben Hancox and Hannah Dawson violins, Robin Ashwell viola, Cara Berridge cello. The quartet is well known to North Norfolk Music Festival audiences but this will be their first appearance at Holkham Hall. Formed in 2001 the quartet still has its four original members and now, in its 17th year, ranks high among the most established British string quartets. In 2017 the Sacconi Quartet released three new CDs ‘In Damascus', music by Jonathan Dove, was chosen as Gramophone Magazine's Recording of the Month: “This important release cannot be recommended too highly.” Last year also saw the Sacconi Chamber Music Festival in Folkestone celebrating its tenth year with sell-out concerts and collaborations with Alasdair Beatson, Leon Bosch and Lavinia Meijer. Theirs is now firmly established among the UK's major chamber music festivals, attracting audiences from far and near. The Sacconi is Quartet in Association at the Royal College of Music. Their programme brings together three of the greatest string quartets: Haydn's ‘Emperor', the third of the late Op.76 quartets, his crowning glories; Debussy's sole masterpiece for quartet, which exploits the contrast between rhythmic vitality and poetic subtlety and Schubert's ‘Death and the Maiden', by which listeners never cease to be both thrilled and amazed. This should be a memorable evening.

Price: £25 – Includes a glass of wine in the Saloon during the interval and an opportunity to view some of the other state rooms in the Hall.

Location: Holkham Hall, Wells next the Sea, Norfolk, North Norfolk
