Portuguese tenor Luis Gomes was selected to join the elite Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2009. This led to many appearances on the main stage at Covent Garden, notably, when as Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff, he became the first Portuguese singer to take a major role there. He has sung at Grange Park Opera, Scottish Opera, where he sang Rodolfo and at the Buxton Opera Festival. He sang Nemorino at the Teatro Verdi Trieste. This season he has been singing Beppe in Pagliacci where his powerful Italianate tenor impressed everyone, winning him critical acclaim. Other engagements include Haydn's Nelson Mass in Lisbon, the Mozart Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall and Rossini's Stabat Mater in Lisbon. He sung twice at the North Norfolk Music Festival where he performed in two gala evenings alongside his colleagues from the Royal Opera. Luis is joined by pianist Carole Presland who has collaborated with many distinguished artists including Colin Carr, Gary Hoffman, Ralph Kirshbaum, Nobuko Imai, Anthony Marwood, Alexander Rudin as well as the Chilingirian, Endellion, Heath and Belcea Quartets. A dedicated teacher, she is part of the keyboard faculty of the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music. In 2013 she was elected an Hon ARAM and in the same year she was appointed Senior Co-ordinator of Keyboard Chamber Music at the Guildhall School of Music.
