Our High Summer Sunday Session is with two friends of Deepdale, Whiter Than & Playhouse. You may have caught Whiter Than in August last year, and Playhouse at previous Deepdale Christmas Markets. Should be a great evening ...
Whiter Than are Mat White (vocals and guitar) and Helen Peacock (violin and vocals) came to stay at Deepdale last year and happened to mention they could hold a tune. They can do a lot more than that, and played a great gig during their stay. It's said that Whiter Than's style is reminicent of the June Brides and other fleeting NME darlings of the jangly 80's indie era. They love a bit of Lloyd Cole & the Commotions and The Smiths circa Hatful of Hollow! They have their own take on this genre.
Playhouse are an up and coming indie pop band from Norwich, often played on BBC Introducing. Jason is very proud to have discovered them busking in Norwich, although we are all sure their musical talent was likely to take them far without that minor step up the musical ladder. Influenced by artists such as Coldplay, Kate Bush and Oasis, Bridget (vocals/piano) and Joe (vocals/guitar) perform an array of covers as well as original songs.
This will be a Brick Barn gig. You can enjoy dancing to the band in the barn or relaxing in the courtyard with the fire pits and dark skies of this beautiful part of the world.
Please bring snacks, but not drink as we will have a bar serving beers, wines and soft drinks.
We can't imagine a better early Summer weekend, so why not join us. Book a bed with us in the Hostel or a pitch on the Campsite and entrance is included. Otherwise, tickets available in advance from our Yapsody page for £3.
