Sunday 11th November 2018
1.30pm to 4.30pm
Film-maker Danny Boyle invites you to join him in marking 100 years since Armistice and the end of the First World War.
A portrait of an individual from the First World War will emerge from the sand of Brancaster Beach. And then, as the tide rises, be washed away as we take a moment to say a collective goodbye.
'This will be a unique moment to say goodbye and thank you, together, to the millions of men and women who left their shores during the war, many never to return. Join us at one of the beaches around the UK or take part online.' - Danny Boyle
Poet Carol Ann Duffy has written a poem especially for the event, to be read by individuals, families and communities on the day. The poem will be available from this website and in the press. You can also get involved in creating artwork in the sand using stencils of portraits at the beaches.
If you are interested in getting involved with events and workshops at Brancaster Beach contact enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk
