One last adventure for a couple in their eighties. John and Ella Robina (Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren) have shared a wonderful life for more than fifty years.
Now in their eighties, Ella suffers from cancer and has chosen to stop treatment. John has Alzheimer's. They choose to escape from the grown-up children and doctors who seem to run their lives, and leave their home in suburban Detroit in The Leisure Seeker, the old camper van used by Ella and John to take holidays with their children in the 1970s. They recapture their passion for life and their love for each other on a road trip that provides revelation and surprise right up to the very end.
